Assembly of the sensors for earth fault and short circuit detection
A)The sensors are used for detecting earth fault and short circuit currents.
All sensors are designed in a way which makes a retroactive installation possible.
Please note.
1) Before the installation is started,the network has to be enabled according to the regulations
2) With the installation it has to be ensured that only the cable current is detected。thismeans that the screen must not become effective.
This is accomplished....
a) The sensor is mounted on an unscreened cable or on an uninsulated cable.
b) With the screening procedure it must be ensured that the screen current is lead back within the sensor frame。This way the screen current is neutralized。The screening,which is lead back through the sensor frame,must be insulated.
Ist possibility for assembling(figurel)
If the screen of the cable is isolated from the switch,the
sensor has to be installed on the screen..
The end of the screen above the sensor has be led back
back through the sensor and has to be connected with the earth.
In this way,the screen cuirent will be neutralized and the
current flowing through the cable is detected.
The switch seperatly connected with the earth.
2nd possibility for assembling(figure2)
If the cable screen is directly connected to the switch,the
cable screen below the terminal of the switch has to be
removed around the core for a wideness of 15 mm.80 to 100
mm below this position,a clip is wrapped on the unscreened
cable,so that the screen current can be led to the earth or to
the switch by a cable.
The sensor has to be installed between the clip and the place
where the screen was removed.In this way the screen current
will not flow through the sensor.
So the sensor detects only the current flowing through
the cable.
It is necessary to seal the open screen part,in order to
protect it against environmental stresses.
The function of these sensors is based on the inductive detection of the earth fault and short circuit
currents.The sensors can be applied as earth fault or short circuit sensors.
B)Sensor versions:
1)Sensor LLwith terminal for light mains
2)Sensor S with cable output
3)Sensor SL with termainal for light mains
4)Sensor P(toroidal core construction)
Sensor LL with stainless steel frame(figure 1)
In case the sensor has to be mounted with the stainless steel frame,the
fixiing scrcws have to be loosened.After that,the open frame has to be
mounted around the core.The sensor housing has to be screwed with
the frame again(fig.1).In the next step the sensor has to be put in its
final position,and this position has to be fixed with the fixingscrews.
Note:The fixing screws of the frams have to be tightend so strongly,
that the whole frame surface is tight-fitting with steel bolts in the hou-
sing,so that an optimum value of magnetic flux through bolt and frame
is guaranteed.Only under this condition the exact operating point can
be reached(tightening torque=3.5Nm)
2)Sensor S with steel belt and plastic tie(figure2)
The diameter of the cable,for which the sensor is useble,is written
down on the sensor.To ensure a precise operating point,it is important to
choose the appropriate cable diameter.for installation,the steel belt(1)
has to be unmounted from one side of the housing(4).The belt has to be
laid around a three-dore-cable,or around the three combined single-core-
cables.After that,the sensor housing has to be connected with the steel
belt again by re-inserting and tightening the screws(2).Now the sensor is
fixed on the cable with plastic cable ties(3).
3)Sensor SL with steel belt and plastic tie(figure3)
The sensor has a terminal for light main(5).The range of the cable
diameter on which the sensor shall be mounted is written down on the
sensou,Tnus a piecise operating point is achieved.the assembling of the
sensor is described under TOP2.
There are two versions of the sensors S and SL.
1) Sensor with operating point pre-adjusted by the manufacturer
2) Sensor with 3 operating points.-On the front side of te sensor the
3) operating point of the sensor can adusted by turning a totary switch.
4)Sensor P (toroidal core construction)(figure4)
The sensor p consists of laminated steel which is laid around the cable.This
steel packet has to be overlapped at its ends and screwed with a screm M5.
Around this,,tape”of laminated steel the coil is wrapped.For assembly,the
screw M5 has to be loosened and the,,tape”of laminated steel has to be bent
asunder so far that it can be laid around the cable.Now the screw M5 must be
inscrtcd again.This toroidal-core-coil is fixed on the cable with plastic calbe ties.
